Oxyfuel Cutting for Thick Heavy Plate
At Proplate USA, our advanced oxyfuel cutting systems are designed to process extremely thick steel plate used in demanding industrial applications across the United States. Using propane oxyfuel torches, we can cut heavy steel plate up to 300 millimeters thick, delivering precise results for large scale structural and manufacturing projects.
Our cutting facility operates seven large cutting machines in multiple sizes. The largest tables allow cutting of plates up to 42 meters long and 5 meters wide, enabling high production efficiency. While one plate is being processed, another can be staged and prepared for cutting, helping reduce downtime and maintain consistent lead times.
Each cutting system is equipped with multiple propane oxyfuel torches along with high definition plasma torches, allowing our team to select the most effective method depending on material thickness and project requirements. Oxyfuel cutting is especially effective for industrial steel components thicker than 60 mm, where it provides reliable performance and clean separation.
A Reliable Method for Extremely Thick Plate
Gas cutting is widely considered the preferred method for processing very thick heavy plate beginning around 50 mm and above. The process allows for stable, controlled cutting on materials used in structural steel fabrication, wear resistant components, heavy equipment manufacturing, and energy related industries.
Underwater Oxyfuel Cutting
Because oxyfuel torches expose steel plate to high temperatures for an extended period, the process can create a heat affected zone (HAZ) around the cut area. To reduce the size of this zone and maintain the integrity of the material, Proplate USA utilizes underwater oxyfuel cutting when required.
Our cutting machines are capable of operating with up to eight burners simultaneously, allowing for highly efficient production while helping control thermal effects on the plate. Underwater cutting also contributes to a safer and cleaner working environment for our operators.
Weld Preparatory Cutting
For components that require welding, bevel cuts can be performed directly within the cutting machine. Depending on the project requirements, these bevels can be produced using either oxyfuel or plasma cutting, ensuring components arrive ready for fabrication and assembly.
Large Format Cutting Tables up to 42 Meters
Proplate USA operates seven modern cutting machines with tables reaching up to 42 meters in length, giving us the capacity to process large heavy plate efficiently. All machines are equipped with multiple gas and plasma torches designed for high volume production and precision cutting.
Our facility also includes the capability to perform underwater cutting, helping minimize heat affected zones while improving the working conditions for our cutting specialists.
